MetaMask Pop-Up Scam

Unscrupulous people are trying to obtain sensitive information from MetaMask users via a phishing scheme. MetaMask is a legitimate cryptocurrency service that provides users with access to the Ethereum blockchain, a cryptowallet, and a way to interact with decentralized apps. The scammers, however, have put a fake login website masquerading as a MetaMask recovery page.

The fake login page tries to create the impression that users have lost access to their MetaMask wallet. In order to fix this non-existing problem, the phishing site requires its visitors to provide their account credentials. Users may be asked to enter their private keys, secret recovery phrases, or other related details.

All of the details input into the fake page will then be made available to the scammers. With the stolen information, the cybercrimnals could take over users' accounts and transfer the funds found in them to other wallets under their own control.

Cryptocurrency-related scams have grown in popularity among certain cybercriminal circles. After all, the sector has enjoyed a massive expansion and gained considerable mainstream support making it a lucrative target for various attacks, especially due to the less tech-savvy enthusiasts who are just entering the space.
