Threat Database Adware Managementmark

Managementmark

ManagementMark is an adware application that tries to sneak its way onto users' Mac computers without attracting their attention. Such deceptive behavior is oftentimes observed in applications classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). These applications are designed to perform various intrusive actions on the systems they are present on. That is why they mask their installations via a tactic known as bundling or by being injected into fake software installers. ManagementMark is no different, as few users would fall for its boasts of being a convenient tool that facilitates more efficient Internet browsing.

The true nature of the app becomes rather obvious rather quickly. After being deployed on the Mac, ManagementMark will begin to monetize its presence by running an intrusive advertisement campaign. The PUP will be responsible for the appearance of numerous unwanted pop-ups, banners, surveys, in-text links and more. These third-party advertisements could be injected into the sites viewed by the users as if they originate from there. Overall, the browsing experience on the affected device could be diminished significantly. However, a far more problematic aspect of ManagementMark is its ability to harvest data and then transmit it to its operators. The information collected by the application may include information entered into the visited sites such as credit/debit card numbers, phone numbers, account credentials and more.
