Macsearch

Macsearch is an adware variant affecting Mac-based systems. Like other adware, Macsearch is designed to push unwanted advertisements to the user. This is often achieved by tampering with browser settings. The result is usually a number of pop-ups coming up on the screen. While in most cases adware doesn’t present an imminent threat to the security of the system, it can enable the infiltration by other more significant and harmful malware.

Macsearch is a generic name and can be related to more than one threat, including malware targeting Windows machines. It is often found in connection with a known adware named Chill Tab.
