Mac Optimizer Pro

Mac Optimizer Pro is one of the countless tools supposed to clean macOS machines and optimize their performance. Like most other similar applications, Mac Optimizer Pro doesn’t really offer any significant features or capabilities beyond what the user can accomplish using macOS’s native tools. What’s more, in the case of Mac Optimizer Pro, the user is led to believe that their machine is performing poorly because of files which are actually beneficial at best and useless at worst.

Mac Optimizer Pro also includes a startup manager. This is another component that has no advantage over the manager integrated in macOS. The original tool Apple integrates in its operating system can be accessed in System Preferences and give the user the same control over their startup items. It could be argued that it offers more control because it would allow the user to disable Mac Optimizer Pro on startup, whereas Mac Optimizer Pro will not.

The lack of functional advantages alone doesn’t mean Mac Optimizer Pro is malware. There is no evidence the application poses any real danger to the security of a machine. However, a number of the most popular security solutions will flag Mac Optimizer Pro as a PUP (short for a Potentially Unwanted Program). The designation is very appropriate and it is used for exactly this type of application.

Mac Optimizer Pro can be downloaded from its own website but it can also come in bundles with other applications. Fortunately, removing Mac Optimizer Pro isn’t complicated. Most security solutions will be fully capable of uninstalling Mac Optimizer Pro. Even without the use of other applications, most users will be able to remove it without too much trouble. All the user has to do is open Force Quit Applications, find Mac Optimizer Pro and force quit. After that the user can follow the usual process of uninstalling an app from a Mac.
