Looker Extension

The Looker Extension is a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) that, if allowed, attaches itself to the user's Web browser. The problem with such PUPs is that they are rarely distributed via normal means. Users may not even realize that the intrusive application has been installed on their computers because it was part of a shady software bundle or injected into a fake installer/updater. Alternatively, the PUP may have been presented to users as a legitimate and useful application but, once installed, it shows its true nature as an adware application or a browser hijacker.

Indeed, PUPs could establish control over users' Web browsers and force them to perform unwanted redirects or open sponsored pages, usually belonging to fake search engines. At the same time, users may suffer from an incessant stream of annoying and questionable advertisements. Looker extension could generate advertisements for suspicious destinations that may be running various online tactics, promoting additional PUPs and more.

While present on the system, the intrusive applications also could spy on the user's browsing activities silently. Information such as the entire browsing history, search history, and clicked URLs may be continuously transmitted to the PUP's operators. Numerous device details (IP address, browser type, device type, OS version, geolocation, etc.) also could be exfiltrated.
