The STOP/DJVU family of ransomware threats is still as popular as ever among cybercriminals, and new variants are being detected in the wild almost daily. One of the latest is called Jdyi Ransomware, and it is as powerful as the rest of the variants belonging to the STOP/DJVU Ransomware family.

Once inside the user's computer, Jdyi Ransomware will encrypt nearly all of the files there, avoiding only the ones responsible for the OS's normal functioning. The goal is to prevent causing any critical errors that could brick the system potentially. All encrypted files will have '.jdyi' appended to their original filenames as a new extension. The ransom note of the threat is delivered in the form of text files named '_readme.txt' created in every folder containing locked data.

Victims of Jdyi Ransomware are told that to receive the decryption key or tool from the criminals, they will have to pay the sum of $980. It is not clarified if the transaction must be made in a specific cryptocurrency. To further push the affected users into establishing communication, the hackers promise to cut the price in half to $490 if they are contacted within the first 72 hours after the ransomware infection. For that purpose, two email addresses are provided - the primary one is 'helpmanager@mail.ch,' while the secondary email is 'restoremanager@airmail.cc.' A single non-important file can be sent to be decrypted for free.
