Iqll Ransomware

Yet another ransomware variant belonging to the infamous STOP/Djvu malware family has been detected by infosec researchers. Named Iqll Ransomware, the threat may act like a typical variant from the STOP/Djvu Ransomware family, but that doesn't decrease its destructive capabilities. When deployed to a compromised computer, Iqll will engage an encryption process that will lock nearly all of the files stored there, rendering the data both unusable and inaccessible. Victims of the threat will then be extorted for money if they want to restore their files via the decryption key and tool possessed by the hackers. Each encrypted file will be marked with the addition of '.iqll' as a new extension to its original name. The threat will then proceed to deliver its ransom note in the form of a text file named '_readme.txt.'

According to the note, the hackers want to be paid a ransom of $980 but they are willing to bring the price down by 50% to $490. The only condition is for the victims of the Iqll Ransomware to establish contact within the first 72 hours of the ransomware infection. Two email addresses can be found inside the note - 'helpteam@mail.ch' and 'helpmanager@airmail.cc.' A single locked file can be attached to the message and will supposedly be decrypted for free.
