Internet Blast is an adware infection that security researchers have classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program. Internet Blast may appear as an add-on intended to Web browsers running on Windows, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. It is important to note that Internet Blast does not offer legitimate, useful services despite the fact that Internet Blast is promoted as a useful Web browser add-on. The following are reasons why security researchers strongly advise computer users to avoid installing Internet Blast on their Web browser:

  • Internet Blast has browser hijacking capabilities. Internet Blast takes over the victim's Web browser. When installed, Internet Blast may force the affected Web browser to visit websites affiliated with Internet Blast repeatedly. Internet Blast redirects may occur whenever a computer user clicks on a link, enters a URL into the address bar or at a random interval. The purpose of Internet Blast redirects is to expose computer users to sponsored material and websites containing advertisements, allowing marketers to profit at the expense of computer users.
  • Internet Blast is classified as adware due to the fact that Internet Blast is used to deliver advertisements to affected Web browsers. Internet Blast may cause the appearance of multiple, disruptive pop-up advertisements that interrupt the computer user's activities. Internet Blast may also add banner and sliding advertisements to websites visited on the affected Web browser. Malware analysts have also noted that Internet Blast may cause the appearance of in-text advertisements, highlighting certain words so that they will display pop-up advertisements as soon as the mouse travel across the highlighted text.
  • Internet Blast may compromise computer user's privacy by tracking the affected computer user's online activities and sending information about the affected Web browser and computer to a third party. This privacy breach may be used to profit from marketing research or to deliver additional advertisements using Internet Blast to the affected Web browser.
  • Internet Blast makes alterations to the settings of your Web browser. Internet Blast may change the affected Web browser's homepage and default search engine.
