EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecard
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are assessment reports for different malware threats which have been collected and analyzed by our research team. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards evaluate and rank threats using several metrics including real-world and potential risk factors, trends, frequency, prevalence, and persistence. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:
Ranking: The ranking of a particular threat in EnigmaSoft’s Threat Database.
Severity Level: The determined severity level of an object, represented numerically, based on our risk modeling process and research, as explained in our Threat Assessment Criteria.
Infected Computers: The number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular threat detected on infected computers as reported by SpyHunter.

InstantFresh is an intrusive application classified as adware, which means that it displays annoying and potentially disruptive advertisements to generate revenue. Adware applications are often used by their developers as a way to collect browsing and other information from users, display unwanted pop-ups, cause unwanted redirects and possibly more. In addition, InstantFresh has been attributed to applications from the infamous AdLoad adware family. Typically, AdLoad apps are designed to target Mac users.
Common Characteristics of Adware Like InstantFresh
Adware applications are mostly known for the ability to display intrusive and unwanted advertisements on various interfaces, including websites visited by users. These advertisements are often used to promote online tactics, PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) or other dubious software, take users to shady online gaming/betting platforms, etc. Any legitimate products or services advertised through the advertisements delivered by adware will typically not be supported by their original developers. Instead, the fraudsters often exploit affiliate programs for authentic products to make money via illegitimate commission fees.
For adware to run its intrusive campaigns, certain conditions, such as compatible browsers/systems or the user geolocation, may need to be met. Even if no advertisements are displayed, the presence of adware should still be avoided, as these applications may represent weak security points. Additionally, adware may collect private data, such as browsing histories, usernames/passwords, personal information, credit card numbers, etc., which can then be sold or exploited in other ways.
How is Adware like InstantFresh Distributed?
Adware and other PUPs are rarely installed intentionally by users. Instead, these dubious applications are often deployed to devices without users' knowledge. Once executed, PUPs could have a wide range of effects – from excessive advertisements to undesirable data tracking. Most users are unaware of how PUPs spread and why they should avoid them.
Many potentially unwanted programs originate from websites that are not secure, such as those with low ratings and with deceptive or manipulative content. It's important to recognize these sites whenever possible and avoid downloading any applications they could promote. Another popular method is bundling, where PUPs are injected alongside other applications offered as free downloads, such as screensavers, games, music players, etc. It is crucial to carefully review all installation options, especially the Custom/Advanced menus, before accepting the installation of any application.
