Threat Database Ransomware Ifla Ransomware

Ifla Ransomware

The Ifla Ransomware is another addition to the countless malware variants belonging to the STOP/Djvu family. Despite lacking any major improvements, the threat's destructive potential remains significant. Victims of the Ifla Ransomware will lose access to the documents, PDFs, databases, archives, images, photos, etc., stored on the breached devices. The military-grade encryption algorithm utilized by the threat ensures that restoration of the locked files will be nearly impossible without having the necessary decryption keys.

Each encrypted file will have its original name modified by having '.ifla' attached to its as a new file extension. Another change caused by the threat will be the appearance of a text file named '_readme.txt.' The purpose of the file is to deliver a ransom note with instructions for the victims of Ifla Ransomware

Demands' Overview

Reading the ransom-demanding message reveals that it mostly follows the pattern established by the rest of the STOP/Djvu variants. The cybercriminals demand to receive a ransom of $980. In exchange, they promise to send back a decryption tool and the specific key necessary for the restoration of the victim's files. According to the note, users that initiate communication within the first 72 hours of the Ifla Ransomware attack will receive preferential terms, mainly that they will have to pay only half of the stated ransom.

The note also reveals that the hackers are willing to decrypt one file for free. However, the chosen file must not contain any valuable information. Three different communication channels are mentioned in the instructions. The main email address of the Ifla Ransomware's operators is 'restorealldata@firemail.cc,' while 'gorentos@bitmessage.ch' as having a reserve role. Finally, victims are also left with a Telegram account they may use to contact the attackers.
