After inspecting the Hugeer.club website, infosec researchers found that it is an untrustworthy page, pushing various online schemes. What users see on the page could be influenced by factors, such as their specific IP address and geolocation. One of the potential scams propagated by Hugeer.club is a variation of the 'You've visited illegal infected websites' tactic.
The dubious page may generate several pop-ups filled with misleading and false messages aimed at scaring the targeted users into downloading a promoted software product. One of the shown windows will urge the user to perform a security scan, under the pretense that their computers or devices got infected after supposedly visiting a corrupted website.
However, no page can perform such scans on its own so any result being shown to the user will be completely fake. Furthermore, Hugeer.club uses the branding and logo of the legitimate McAfee company, even though the security vendor has absolutely no connection to this shady website. Sometimes, rogue pages may be promoting legitimate products. In these cases, the likely goal of the fraudsters is to earn illegitimate commission fees for each transaction.
