The Htemplatehub.co (or search.htemplatehub.co) search engine aims to attract users by claiming to offer a convenient way to efficiently search multiple popular template sites for a specific template. However, in reality, Htemplatehub.co is classified as a hoax (fake) search engine that is being spread via a browser hijacker application. Indeed, infosec researchers have observed the search engine to be promoted by a software product named Template Hub.

Browser hijackers almost always fall into the Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) category due to the misleading distribution methods they employ. After all, users are extremely unlikely to intentionally install these types of programs. Template Hub is no different and as a result, many users may not have even realized that the app is going to be installed on their computers.

However, afterward, the browser hijacker's activities would become noticeable almost immediately. The app establishes control over the browser and forces it to open the search.htemplatehub.co via the homepage, new page tab, and the default search engine settings. The Template Hub browser hijacker ensures that all affected settings will open the promoted address by blocking users from making any further modifications. 

Users should keep in mind that the Template Hub application and the Htemplatehub.co might be tracking their browsing habits and collecting any related information. The gathered data could include the search history, visited websites, clicked URLs, and device details such as IP address, geolocation, ISP, and more. The operator of the PUP could then attempt to use the collected details or offer them for sale to interested third parties.
