Hipnoticrec.biz is an untrustworthy page, that utilizes misleading and fake alerts and messages as part of a browser-based tactic. It should be noted that the site is in no way unique as there are countless other pages operating in a virtually identical manner. The crux of this scheme revolves around convincing visitors into enabling the page's notifications. Of course, this fact is rarely revealed to the users who will instead be presented with various false scenarios.
One of the most commonly encountered ones consists of the hoax page pretending to be doing a CAPTCHA check. Hipnoticrec.biz has been observed doing exactly that. The page will show an image of a human and a robot accompanied by a message similar to:
'Press 'Allow' to verify, that you are not robot'
Users that follow the instructions and press the button will be subscribed to the notifications of Hipnoticrec.biz. As a result, Hipnoticrec.biz will become capable of running an intrusive ad campaign. Apart from the sheer annoyance of having to deal with the increased number of advertisements while browsing, users should remember not to trust the generated advertisements. Indeed, ads associated with such shady sources often promote more tactics, phishing platforms, fake giveaways, etc. Users may also be presented with offers to download and install intrusive adware, browser hijackers, and other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) masqueraded as useful applications.
