Threat Database Ransomware Hhqa Ransomware

Hhqa Ransomware

The Hhqa Ransomware is another variant belonging to the infamous STOP/Djvu Ransomware family. Cybercriminals have been churning out new STOP/Djvu variants almost daily for quite a while now and it appears that they have no intention of stopping any time soon. The myriad of variants operate in an identical manner and the biggest difference between them is the extension they use to mark the encrypted files. Their destructive capabilities should's shouldn't be underestimated, though.

If the Hhqa Ransomware manages to infiltrate the user's computer successfully, it will initiate an encryption routine that will render nearly all of the files stored there both inaccessible and unusable. Each locked file will have '.hhqa' appended to its original name as a new extension. The ransom note containing instructions for the victims will then be dropped onto the system in the form of a text file named '_readme.txt.'

Hhqa Ransomware's Demands

The Hhqa Ransomware follows the pattern established by the previous STOP/Djvu threats. It informs its victims that they will have to pay the sum of $980 to receive the decryption key and tool from the hackers. However, if users establish contact within the first 72 hours, the price of the ransom will supposedly be decreased by half to $490. Two email addresses can be used as communication channels - 'manager@mailtemp.ch' and 'managerhelper@airmail.cc.' As part of the message, victims can attach a single file to be decrypted for free. The only listed requirement is for the file to not contain any valuable information.
