Hackerz Ransomware
The Hackerz Ransomware is a variant of open-source mobile Android ransomware that has been active for several years. It appears that Hackerz is designed to target users in Brazil and Portugal as the ransom note delivered by the threat is written in Portuguese entirely. Android devices infected by the threat will have the files stored on them encrypted, followed by the screen getting locked, and then the text of the note will be displayed in full-screen mode.
The ransom note tells victims that they will have to pay to receive the decryption key required for the restoration of the encrypted files. Furthermore, the hackers threaten that after 24 hours the decryption key will be deleted from their servers alongside all encrypted files on the compromised device. Rebooting the device also will result in the files on it getting deleted.
To keep and restore their data, users are told to initiate communication by sending a message to the provided email address. Unfortunately, the ransom note doesn't contain such an email leaving users with very few options besides restoring the locked data from a backup.
