EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecard
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are assessment reports for different malware threats which have been collected and analyzed by our research team. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards evaluate and rank threats using several metrics including real-world and potential risk factors, trends, frequency, prevalence, and persistence. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:
Ranking: The ranking of a particular threat in EnigmaSoft’s Threat Database.
Severity Level: The determined severity level of an object, represented numerically, based on our risk modeling process and research, as explained in our Threat Assessment Criteria.

The Gobrowser.xyz address has been analyzed by infosec researchers and, as a result, it was determined that it belongs to a fake search engine. Typically, users would never rely on such engines to handle their Web searches. The creators of fake engines know this fact and that is why they employ various underhanded techniques to divert traffic towards their pages artificially. One such method is using intrusive browser hijacker applications. Gobrowser.xyz is not an exception.
The browser hijacker will activate with invasive functions and take over the user's Web browsers. The goal is to modify specific browser settings (homepage, new tab page, default search engine) and set them to open the promoted address. Consequently, whenever the users try to launch the affected browser, open a new tab, or conduct a search via the URL tab, they will be taken to Gobrowser.xyz immediately.
Unfortunately, fake engines do not provide users with unique or reliable results. After all, they are devoided of such capabilities completely. Instead, the fake engine will take the initiated search and redirect it to a different one. In this case, Gobrowser.xyz has been observed to show results generated by the legitimate Bing engine.
The unwanted actions of the browser hijacker application may not stop there, though. Adware, browser hijackers, and other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) are known for having at least some data-tracking routines. They might spy on the user's browsing activities, collect device details, or even attempt to extract sensitive account credentials, banking details, or payment info from the affected browsers.
