The getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware is a recently uncovered file-encrypting Trojan. The getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware does not appear to be a part of any of the prominent Ransomware families. It is not clear what the exact propagation method of the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware is but there is some guesswork that it may involve spam email campaigns, pirated content and fake software updates. If the user falls for the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware's tricks, they will give the green light to this data-locking Trojan to enter their system. Once the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware sneaks onto your computer, it would begin the attack by scanning all your data to find the files it was programmed to lock. When identified and located, the targeted files will undergo the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware's encryption process, which would render them unusable.

After the encryption, the extension of the locked files will be different from what it originally was. Unlike most ransomware threats, which usually add a short but consistent extension at the end of the file name, the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware adds 6-7 randomly generated characters to each encrypted file. After the encryption process is through, the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware drops a ransom note, 'DECRYPT-FILES.html.' In the note, the attackers state that the victim's 'documents, photos, databases, and other important files have been encrypted!' They go on to say that the only way to recover your data is if you pay them the ransom fee demanded. As proof that they are in possession of a decryption tool, the authors of the getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware offer to decrypt one file for free. The attackers also provide an email address where they are to be contacted by the victim – getmyfilesback@airmail.cc.

We would recommend you to avoid contacting shady individuals like the ones responsible for getmyfilesback@airmail.cc Ransomware. Such people tend to 'guarantee' how the victim will get all their data back if they get paid. This, however, is often not the case at all as cybercriminals lose their interest to help you quickly once they receive your cash in their accounts. A better option is to clean your computer using a trustworthy anti-virus application.
