Gen:Adware.Heur is a heuristic detection for an infected code that may be installed on a PC by another malware infection. Gen:Adware.Heur may come in the form of a browser hijacker, pop-up advertisements, toolbar, or unwanted browser add-ons, plug-ins and extensions. Gen:Adware.Heur may not be as infectious as a virus, but it may be very intrusive after installation on the PC. Gen:Adware.Heur was generated to identify files that may carry untrustworthy activities specifying occurrence of a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Gen:Adware.Heur may also recognize applications that may function as known adware. Gen:Adware.Heur may produce and display disturbing pop-up ads, disperse additional software, or compromise a Web browser and replace the default start page and search provider or a new tab window on the PC. Gen:Adware.Heur may be distributed and install itself onto the computer as an additional application packaged with third-party software that PC users downloaded and install from suspicious download websites.
