Gallery Adware

The Gallery adware is an intrusive application that will cause various, unwanted advertisements to appear on the systems it is installed. Users are likely to be constantly interrupted by pop-ups, banners, notifications, etc. The advertisements could even cover some of the original text on the visited websites. Apart from the severe impact on the user experience, the advertisements also may be promoting dubious or unsafe destinations. The Gallery adware may generate advertisements for shady adult pages, suspicious online betting/gambling portals, online tactics (fake giveaways, phishing schemes, technical support hoaxes), or sites spreading additional PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) under the guise of seeming legitimate applications.

Adware, browser hijackers, and PUPs in general are notorious for possessing additional functionalities that are activated without attracting the user's attention. In many cases, these programs monitor the browsing activities carried out on the affected system. However, the collected information also may include numerous device details, such as IP address, geolocation, device type, browser type and more. Some PUPs even try to extract sensitive data - banking details, payment information and credit/debit card numbers from browsers' autofill data.
