FIXI Ransomware

By GoldSparrow in Ransomware

FIXI Ransomware is an extension to the threats that hackers behind Scarab ransomware have created for the typical purposes of holding a PC for hostage while they demand a ransom payment from victimized computer users.

FIXI Ransomware, upon loading on a Windows PC, will target certain files and encrypt them with an appended extension of ".FIXI," which is where the FIXI Ransomware threat gets its name. After encrypting files, FIXI Ransomware will return a ransom note that makes demands for the computer user to pay a fee within 72 hours or they may face total loss of the files.

If victims of FIXI Ransomware pay the ransom fee, which may be hundreds to thousands of dollars, they may get a key to decrypt the files. For most, who cannot afford to pay a ransom, it is best that they take the action of first removing FIXI Ransomware using an antimalware resource and then use a backup to restore the files that FIXI Ransomware may leave encrypted.
