FARGO Ransomware

The FARGO Ransomware is an injurious threat that cybercriminals can use to lock the data of their victims. The consequences of having your computer infected with the threat will be devastating. The FARGO Ransowmare will target most of the file types on the device and encrypt them with an uncrackable cryptographic algorithm. Afterward, the attackers will demand to be paid a ransom to assist with the restoration of the data. It should be noted that the threat has been classified as a variant of the previously identified malware named TargetCompany Ransomware.

Affected users will notice that all of the locked files have a new file extension - '.FARGO' appended to their original names. In addition, the threat will create a text file named 'FILE RECOVERY.TXT' on the desktop of the breached system. The file contains a ransom note with instructions for the victims. According to the note, the hackers are willing to decrypt a couple of files for free. The price of the demanded ransom will be determined only after that. The note leaves two email addresses that can be used as communication channels - 'mallox@stealthypost.net' and 'recohelper@cock.li.'
