Ext.privacyassistant.net is one of the several pages associated with the SearchAssist Incognito browser extension. The pages privacyassistant.net and searchassist.net relate to the re-branded version of Search Assist that is now presented to you as SearchAssist Incognito. The SearchAssit Incognito software is linked to a few other domains including privacyassistant.net, searchassist.com, searchassist.me, and searchassist.net. These portals are associated with cases of browser hijacking and riskware. The coders behind Ext.privacyassistant.net and its clones promote their SearchAssist Incognito browser extension as a tool to take control of your privacy on the Internet. Users that land on Ext.privacyassistant.net may be promised that they will not be tracked on privacyassistant.net and searchassist.net. Also, Web surfers that choose to install the SearchAssist extension may be lead to believe they will be provided with a private search at privacyassistant.net and searchassist.net. The extension's promo can be found at Ext.privacyassistant.net/ext/lp?cid=18pte2xfn38m&trs=avl&cont=USA and offers the following message:

'Browse and search privately, without sharing personally identifiable information. All search engines want to track your search data and follow you around the Internet. Keep your data private by installing SearchAssist Incognito'

That is not the case because these portals function as redirect-gateways to reputable search engines. You should not expect that the add-on associated with Ext.privacyassistant.net will not introduce tracking cookies and redirect you to other portals automatically. As stated before, privacyassistant.net and searchassist.net do not provide legitimate services and features on their own. For example, the image search would lead users to aggregated results at Images.search.yahoo.com; the video search would load Video.search.yahoo.com; the news search will present results at News.search.yahoo.com, and the general search quarry will lead you to Bing.com. The company behind SearchAssist Incognito makes money by showing ads on privacyassistant.net and searchassist.net. Also, your Internet traffic via privacyassistant.net and searchassist.net allows them to monetize your online activity and claim revenue for rerouting you to legitimate search engines. Understandably, many users may not be comfortable with how SearchAssist Incognito is presented and how it works. If you experience issues with SearchAssist Incognito, you may want to use a credible anti-spyware solution and remove its associated tracking cookies and unwanted extensions from your Internet client securely.
