Threat Database Mac Malware ExtendedProcesser

ExtendedProcesser

ExtendedProcesser is an unsafe tool that exhibits the characteristic features of adware and a browser hijacker. Users do not install it on their machines intentionally; therefore, malware researchers classify it as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP).

Among ExtendedProcesser's functionalities is to deliver undesired advertisements to users' desktops directly. The advertisements generated by this PUP include fake surveys, deceptive discount coupons, banners and other intrusive sponsored content. Some of these pop-ups could even contain scripts that may download and install additional malware without the user's notice.

ExtendedProcesser modifies victims' default search engine and homepage, replacing them with a fake search engine -0yrvtrh.com on Safari and search.standartanalog.com on Google Chrome. Both deliver search results from Yahoo, while at the same time, redirecting users to unreliable websites. ExtendedProcesser also is known to collect the user's data, like credit card details, IP addresses, login credentials for online accounts and so on. The collected data can be misused in various ways, which, in turn, can lead to serious privacy issues.

In most cases, this PUP is distributed through a fake Adobe Flash Player Installer. Yet, it can be bundled within other software and freeware programs. We recommend using a reliable automatic malware removal tool to delete ExtendedProcesser from your PC.
