Threat Database Adware Expo Captcha Virus

Expo Captcha Virus

Expo Captcha is a fraud that pretends to be a captcha verification asking website guests to confirm they are human. These crooks use false captcha verification pop-ups to get users to allow push notifications from corrupted ad servers, which will be disp[layed by its sponsored website, Expocaptcha.top. Users can come across Expocaptcha.top just by entering a misspelled Web address. Also, they can be redirected to this rogue site by malvertising (compromised advertisements), adware and Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs).

Expocaptcha.top tells the website guests to click the 'Allow' button to get through a CAPTCHA verification. It uses a clickbait technique to obtain permission to display notifications. It is never required to click the 'Allow' button (agree to receive notifications) to pass a CAPTCHA, load the page, play a video, etc.

How to prevent deceptive sites from delivering spam notifications

Do not click the 'Allow' button or a similar butt and exit the page. Note that real pages never claim that clicking the 'Allow' button is required to perform specific actions (e.g., prove that you are not a robot, load the page, play a video, etc.).
