Threat Database Ransomware EveRed Ransomware

EveRed Ransomware

The EveRed Ransomware is a threat designed to lock the files of its victims. To achieve its nefarious goal, it initiates an encryption process with an uncrackable cryptographic algorithm. Afterward, the attackers demand to be paid a ransom in exchange for sending a decryption tool that could restore the affected data.

The EveRed Ransomware appends the '.evered' extension to each encrypted file. The targeted file types include documents, archives, databases, etc. When the encryption process is completed, the malware delivers a ransom note with instructions for its victims. The message will be placed inside a newly-created text file named 'readme.txt.'

Ransom Note's Details

EveRed Rasnomware's note reveals the exact amount that the cybercriminals want to receive as a ransom - 1 mBTC. This is equal to 0.001 bitcoins. The Bitcoin cryptocurrency has gone through a lot of volatility and its value can change rapidly but at the current exchange rate, the ransom is equal to a little over $57.

The sum must be transferred to the provided crypto-wallet address. The note doesn't mention any communication channels that victims can use to reach the hackers. Also, there is no option to decrypt a couple of files for free as a demonstration of the attacker's ability to restore the encrypted file.
