Victims of the Erop Ransomware have had their files encrypted, and the threat claims that the only way to recover the data is by paying a ransom to the attackers to purchase the decryption software and a unique key. The attackers have set the price for the decryption tools at $980 but are offering a 50% discount if victims contact them within 72 hours. To prove that they are able to decrypt files, the attackers offer to decrypt one file for free. Best Ways to Protect Your Data from Threats Like the Erop Ransomware

Ransomware is a growing threat to home users and businesses alike. One of the most important tips for protecting against ransomware is to ensure that your system is up to date and the latest security fixes are in place. This means that updating both the operating system and any installed applications regularly – including anti-malware software. Outdated Windows versions are more vulnerable to attacks because attackers know about the flaws in them and can exploit them more easily.
'
Anti-malware software should be installed on all of your computers and other devices. Even if you have an older device, make sure it's protected with an up-to-date security program that will scan all files before they are accessed or opened, as well as detect and remove unsafe software already present on the device.

Finally, regularly backing up your data is one of the best ways to protect against ransomware attacks. With a backup in place, the attackers can encrypt your files, but it will not matter since you already have a working copy stored offsite or on a Cloud storage service that they cannot access.
