The EmailDefend browser extension from StarGlobe LLC is promoted as a must-have customization utility for your Goggle Chrome New Tab. The EmailDefend browser extension claims that it can allow you to secure your email correspondence and provide you with enhanced search capabilities. However, the EmailDefend extension is perceived as a browser hijacker that might edit your Windows Registry settings and Internet settings to change your default start page, new tab design, and default search provider to Search.EmailDefend.com. Also, the EmailDefend browser hijacker may alter your DNS settings to reroute your Internet traffic to sponsored websites and prevent you from visiting blacklisted domains of companies that do not support the development of EmailDefend.
Security analysts note that the EmailDefend browser hijacker may provide users with links to online AV scanners and allow users to access news on phishing campaigns, but you should not be fooled. The EmailDefend is a browser hijacker that may be a security risk and expose you to cyber threats like Renos and Expack that may allow a remote code execution on your PC. The EmailDefend browser hijacker may show pop-up and pop-under windows loaded with promotional materials from sponsors and read your bookmarks and recently visited pages to generate tailor-suited commercials. Moreover, the EmailDefend browser hijacker may use HTML and Adobe Flash tracking cookies to facilitate its operations. The EmailDefend browser hijacker may arrive on your PC embedded with a freeware package and place its files in the hidden ProgramData folder of Windows to evade security scans. Security analysts recommend users to install a renowned anti-spyware application that can eradicate the EmailDefend’s browser hijacker.
