Threat Database Ransomware Elbie Ransomware

Elbie Ransomware

Cybersecurity experts uncovered a new ransomware threat that is attacking the users computers. Named the Elbie Ransomware, it behaves like any other ransomware threat, which means that it possesses a devastating power for damage. If successfully installed on the targeted machines, it will execute an encryption campaign that will leave useless the targeted files stored there.

Each file encrypted by the Elbie Ransomware will have its native name altered. More specifically, the threat will append '.Elbie to their names as a new file extension. As soon as the Elbie Ransomware finishes enciphering the chosen files, it will proceed to display its ransom note. The Elbie Ransomware ransom note will be displayed on the targeted system as a new text file that will be named info.hta, info.tx or ##-IMPORTANT_NOTICE-##.Tx.

Attackers' Demands

When the users open the ransom note file, they will see a list of instructions. The note does not reveal the amount the operators of the Elbie Ransomware want to receive. However, it demands payment using Bitcoin. Communication with the attackers can be accomplished via two email addresses - 'antich154@privatemail.com' and 'rikyrank113@protonmail.com.' The attackers also offer to decrypt 5 locked files for free, as long as 'The total size of files must be less than 4Mb (non archived), and files should not contain valuable information. (databases, backups, large excel sheets, etc.)'

The message presented by the Elbie Ransomware to the victims reads:
