Ehiz Ransomware

A threat named Ehiz Ransomware is powerful enough to cause massive damage to any computer system it manages to infect. The Ehiz Ransomware is a variant stemming from the infamous STOP/Djvu family of ransomware threats is lurking in the wild. Ehiz Ransomware initiates an encryption routine with a potent cryptographic algorithm that will leave users unable to access their own files. All affected files will be marked by the addition of '.ehiz' to their original names as a new extension. When all targeted filetypes (such as doc, xls, pdf, jpg, png, etc.) are encrypted, Ehiz Ransomware will proceed to deliver its ransom note. The instructions are dropped as text files named '_readme.txt.' 

The hackers demand to receive the sum of $980 if they are to provide their victims with the decryption code needed for the restoration of the locked files. To convince the affected users into initiating contact, the cybercriminals offer to cut that price in half to $490 if they receive a message within the first 72 hours. Two email addresses can be used as communication channels - 'helpteam@mail.ch' and 'helpmanager@airmail.cc.' Victims can send a single file that will supposedly be decrypted for free. 

Generally, it is not recommended to enter into negotiations with cybercriminals. Doing so can expose you to additional security risks. Instead, remove the ransomware threat with a reputable anti-malware solution and look for a suitable backup from which to restore the locked files.
