Eegf Ransomware
Eegf Ransomware may be another variant based on the STOP/Djvu malware family but that is not a reason to think that its capacity to cause damage is any less potent. Beached devices will be subjected to an encryption process that will leave most of the data stored on them in an unusable state. Indeed, victims of Eegf Ransomware will no longer be able to open their photos, images, databases, archived, documents, etc. Each file locked by the threat will now carry '.eegf' as a new file extension. Another change caused by the threat will be the appearance of a file named '_readme.txt' on the device.
The text file generated by Eegf Ransomware will contain a ransom note with instructions for the impacted users. In general, Eegf follows the pattern established by other STOP/Djvu variants. It states that the only way to unlock the encrypted files is to pay the attackers a ransom of $980. In exchange, users are promised to receive a decryption tool and the required decryption keys. In addition, this initial amount of the ransom can supposedly be cut in half to $490. To enable this discount, victims will need to have sent a message to the attackers within the first 72 hours of the Eegf Ransomware infection. As potential communication channels, the note provides two email addresses - 'restorealldata@firemail.cc' and 'gorentos@bitmessage.ch,' and a Telegram account at '@datarestore.'
