Doge Giveaway Scam

Cybercriminals have launched a new misleading page that takes advantage of the recent boom in popularity of the rather meme-centric Dogecoin cryptocurrency. The deceiving page that has been set up by the criminals also mentions Elon Musk, a vocal supporter of DOGE (Dogecoin). According to the message displayed on the page, anyone who sends between 5000 and 10 million Dogecoins to the address found on the website will receive double that amount immediately. If that sounds too good to be true, well, you are right. Any amount transferred to the fraudsters will be taken without the user receiving anything in return. We also should mention that neither Elon Musk nor Tesla, Space X, nor any either corporation associated with him has anything to do with this tactic.

If you have noticed that the 'Doge Giveaway' deceiving page has been appearing rather regularly when you are browsing the Internet, that could be a strong signal that a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) has managed to sneak onto your computer or device. PUPs rely on misleading distribution techniques to propagate themselves and hide their installation process from the attention of the user.

Having a reputable anti-malware solution and performing regular scans is one of the best security measures that could help keep your computer or device safe.
