Decryption2021 Ransomware

A new potent malware threat has been identified in the wild. Tracked by infosec researchers as the Decryption 2021 Ransomware, the threat can lock users out of accessing their own files. Indeed, the Decryption 2021 Ransomware targets numerous file types and renders them unusable via an uncrackable encryption process.

Each locked file also will have its name modified. First, the threat appends its name as '.decryption2021.' Then, it adds a specifying string of characters representing the unique ID assigned to the victim. As part of its activities, the Decryption 2021 Ransomware generates a text file named '!!! ALL YOUR FILES ARE ENCRYPTED !!!.TXT.' The purpose of this file is to carry the threat's ransom note.

Demands Overview

The ransom-demanding message doesn't mention the exact amount that the hackers want to receive from their victims. However, it does state that restoration of the affected files without the necessary decryption key is virtually impossible. To receive additional instructions, victims are directed towards contacting the attackers via the provided email address. The main one is 'chinadecryption2021@goat.si,' while 'chdecryption2021@tfwno.gf' serves as a backup. As part of their message, users can attach one encrypted file that will supposedly be unlocked for free.

The full text of the note is:
