Threat Database Ransomware Cyber_Puffin Ransomware

Cyber_Puffin Ransomware

Cyber_Puffin is a malware threat that is designed specifically to target the data of its victims. Thanks to a strong encryption algorithm, the Cyber_Puffin Ransomware will lock the documents, PDFs, images, photos, archives, databases and many other file types found on the infected devices. The goal of the attackers is to then extort their victims for money, in exchange for assisting with the restoration of the impacted files. It must be noted that the Cyber_Puffin Ransomware is extremely similar to another ransomware threat tracked as the Exploit6 Ransomware.

Victims of the threat will notice that each affected file now has '.Cyber_Puffin' attached to its original name as a new extension. Furthermore, the malware will change the current desktop wallpaper of the device and drop a text file named 'Cyber_Puffin.txt.' The file contains a brief ransom-demanding message. According to the threat's ransom note, victims have only 1 chance to enter the correct code and get their data back. The only way to communicate with the cybercriminals is via their Telegram account at '@lamer112311.'
