The 'Credit Card Refund' email virus is a new tactic targeting users online. The recipients of the 'Credit Card Refund' email virus will be led to believe that there has been an unannounced refund issued to their credit card. Naturally, the user would be excited at the prospect of receiving funds out of the blue, and this is what the fraudsters rely on.

The targets of the 'Credit Card Refund' email virus are told that they have received $2,700 deposited into their account. The user will be required to review a file, which is attached to the fraudulent email. The file in question is likely to be an '. XLSM' file, although the con-artist also may use other popular document files such as .DOC, .XLSX, or .DOCX. Therefore, if you have received an attachment associated with the 'Credit Card Refund' email virus, you should not open it at any cost. The attached file carried the payload of a threat, which will compromise your computer. The threat is called Dridex, and it would try to exploit several known vulnerabilities in outdated Microsoft Office versions. The Dridex malware is not a threat you should underestimate – this is a banking Trojan is among the most harmful threats of its class in the past several years. This banking Trojan can obtain your banking login credentials and siphon out your funds.
