CMLOCKER Ransomware

The CMLOCKER Ransomware threat affects the data of its victims by locking it with an uncrackable encryption algorithm. Files such as documents, archives, databases, photos, audio and video files, etc., will all be left in an unusable state, and restoration without the proper decryption keys is usually completely impossible. The goal of the attackers is to extort the affected users or corporate entities for money, in exchange for providing them with a decryption tool and keys.

As part of its programming, the CMLOCKER Ransomware also marks the files it locks by modifying their original names. The ransom note of the threat will be delivered to the infected device as a text file named 'HELP_DECRYPT_YOUR_FILES.txt.'

The message from the cybercriminals reveals that they want to be paid a ransom of exactly $980. However, the hackers will only accept payments in Bitcoin that have been transferred to the provided crypto-wallet addresses. Victims also can contact the 'leljicok@gmail.com' email address to send 1 chosen file to be decrypted for free.
