Threat Database Browser Hijackers 'Chrome Glass' Extension

'Chrome Glass' Extension

No matter what the 'Chrome Glass' extension claims to provide in terms of useful features, users will quickly realize that its primary purpose is to deliver unwanted and annoying advertisements to their computers. This behavior is the main characteristic of adware applications. Furthermore, dubious browser extensions and applications are likely to be spread via questionable methods, such as software bundles or fake installers/updates. As a result, they also fall into the PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) category.

Having an adware application active on your computer could have a detrimental impact on the user experience. After all, the influx of advertisements could severely disrupt the normal actions carried out on the device. More importantly, the advertisements should not be approached carelessly. In many cases, adware applications deliver advertisements promoting shady adult-oriented platforms, fake giveaways, phishing portals disguised as legitimate sites or other online tactics. Users also may be presented with advertisements for additional PUPs.

Unfortunately, these intrusive applications could pose additional risks as well. For example, PUPs are notorious for potentially having data-tracking capabilities. They may be silently monitoring the users' browsing activities and transmitting the obtained data to their operators.
