Ccew Ransomware

The Ccew Ransomware is another variant from the STOP/Djvu family. Although it doesn't stand out with any meaningful improvements, the threat's destructive capabilities remain as significant as other members of the STOP/Djvu Ransomware family. If successfully deployed, the Ccew Ransomware will scan the breached system and lock most of the data stored on it. The uncrackable cryptographic algorithm used for the encryption process will ensure that victims will not be able to easily restore the affected documents, pictures, photos, archives, databases and more.

As part of its programming, the threat also will append '.ccew' to the names of the encrypted files. The malware then generates a text file named '_readme.txt.' The role of the file is to deliver a ransom note containing Ccew Ransomware's instructions for its victims.

Reading the note reveals that the operators of the threat are trying to extort the affected users for $980. This initial ransom amount could apparently be cut in half if victims reach out to the hackers within the first 72 hours following the attack. Ccew's message leaves users with two email addresses that they could message - 'support@bestyourmail.ch' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc.' It should be pointed out that communicating with cybercriminals could carry additional privacy or security risks.
