Threat Database Browser Hijackers Browser-notification.work

Browser-notification.work

Browser-notification.work is a deceptive website designed to carry out a popular browser-based tactic. There are countless websites that operate in a virtually identical manner. They all display various misleading alerts or error messages to their visitors in an attempt to lure them into clicking the 'Allow' button. Doing so will subscribe the user to that site's push notification services. What this means in practice is that the corrupted website will now be able to run an intrusive ad campaign.

The generated advertisements will be delivered to the screen of the affected device directly, and closing the browser at this point will not stop them from appearing. The advertisements could diminish the browsing experience on the device severely by starting to cover the legitimate content viewed by the user. Furthermore, the advertisements themselves could increase the potential security risks, as they might redirect the user to dubious third-party websites. Domains promoting barely-functioning PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), phishing pages thinly disguised as surveys, or even sites that could attempt to drop malware threats could all be among the redirect destinations.

Users who experience an abnormal amount of redirects to Browser-notification.work are advised to scan their computers for any adware applications or other PUPs that might have managed to sneak themselves onto it. For the best results, use a reputable anti-malware solution.
