Blocksly Adware

The Blocksly application presents itself using the words 'innovative ad protector,' leading users to the conclusion that it must operate much better and be more effective than the other numerous adblock applications. Unfortunately, once it has been installed on the system, Blocksly quickly shows its true colors and they are the exact opposite of what it promises. Indeed, infosec researchers have determined that Blocksly is yet another intrusive adware application.

Adware applications are designed specifically to monetize their presence on the user's device by running an intrusive ad campaign. Numerous dubious and unwanted advertisements could be delivered to the computer, causing a severely diminished user experience. More importantly, the advertisements may utilize various social engineering tactics or clickbait messages to entice users into interacting with them. Afterward, the advertisements could cause unwanted downloads, redirect users to questionable or unsafe destinations, such as hoax websites, phishing schemes, suspicious adult platforms, etc. Users also could encounter offers for additional applications that are thinly-veiled PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs).

Adware and other types of PUPs are notorious for having data-harvesting functionalities. These applications may try to continuously spy on the user's browsing activities, with the captured data being transmitted to a remote server under the control of their operators. The targeted information could include the browsing and search histories but also may expand to add numerous device details or even confidential banking and payment details extracted from the user's Web browsers.
