The BD Ransomware is a crypto locker threat that encrypts the user's files and demands payment for their restoration. The files rendered unusable by the BD Ransomware will have '. BD' appended to their original file names as a new extension. The ransom note with instructions by the criminals is dropped in every folder containing the encrypted data as a text file named 'HOW TO DECRYPT FILES.txt' and displayed as a pop-up window.

According to the demands on the ransom note, victims of the BD Ransomware have to pay $50 in Bitcoin to receive the decryption key or tool from the hackers. If communication is established within the first 72 hours after the infection, the criminals will reduce the asked price in half to $25.

The email provided for contact is 'virusjahid4209@cyberper.net', but affected users are supposed to send an SMS message before using it. Furthermore, the ransom note specifies that users have 70 attempts to input the right decryption code, if they exceed that number, the encrypted data will be supposedly be destroyed.

To restore your files and access them,

please send an SMS with the text virusjahid4209@cyberper.net

You have 70 attempts to enter the code.

When that number has been exceeded,

all the data irreversibly is destroyed.
