Babax Stealer

By GoldSparrow in Malware

Cybercriminals have designed the Babax Stealer with the purpose of collecting information from infected computers without any user noticing. Babax is, therefore, an information collector that targets user login credentials stored on a Web browser. This malware targets include login names and passwords for online banking accounts, social media, cryptocurrency wallets, file-hosting services and many others.

The collected data generates profits for the attackers, as it is sold to third parties, or used to conduct unauthorized purchases, fraudulent money transfers, and other transactions, collect identities or access personal files and documents. Babax should be removed from the infected system immediately, as it may lead not only to huge financial losses but also to severe privacy issues for the affected users.

Malware researchers still do not know how Babax Stealer spreads around exactly; however, it can be said that it penetrates computers through other machines connected to the same network. The initial infection of a device in the network probably happens through spam e-mail campaigns that aim to launch infected attachments.

Other sources of malware like the Babax Stealer can be corrupted advertisements, cracked software copies, file-sharing platforms, other threatening programs and tools. Manual removal of Babax can be tricky as it may require advanced computer knowledge and experience. A better option, in this case, would be an automated malware removal tool.
