OS(es) Affected: Windows is a deceiving website that tries to scare its visitors into buying a license for an anti-virus security solution. The goal of the site is to earn monetary gains for its creators in the form of commission fees.

Users who land on the page will be presented with a fake warning claiming that multiple malware threats have been detected on their computers or devices. The dubious site will pretend as if the bogus claim is coming from a legitimate cybersecurity vendor, such as McAfee or Norton. The false claims will continue and users will be told that they will have to renew their anti-virus subscription to deal with non-existent threats. Possible messages presented by include:

Your PC is infected with 5 viruses!

'Your Norton Subscription Has Expired!
Renew now to keep your pc protected.

'If your PC is unprotected, it is at risk for viruses and other malware.'

Do not be fooled by such tactics. This is a popular scheme employed by unscrupulous people. However, keep in mind that no website can perform an anti-malware scan on its own. Furthermore, even if the software product promoted through these deceptive means is legitimate, you should still buy it from an official store and not through a shade page that you stumbled upon.
