Threat Database Rogue Websites Android-recaptcha.info

Android-recaptcha.info

Android-recaptcha.info is a dubious website designed to trick visitors into subscribing to its push notification services. The goal of the site and its creators is to then generate monetary gains by delivering unwanted and intrusive advertisements to the affected systems. It should be noted that there are countless sites virtually identical to Android-recaptcha.info on the Internet and that users are extremely unlikely to land on one of them intentionally. IN the vast majority of cases they are brought to these deceiving pages via forced redirects caused by a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that has managed to sneak onto their computers and devices.

Android-recaptcha.info has been observed to use the most popular among this websites' scenario - it pretends to be conducting a CAPTCHA check for bots. The page displays an image of a robot and a human alongside the following message:

'Click Allow to confirm that you are not a robot!'

Clicking the button gives the site broad browser permissions, enough that even if the browser itself is closed, the advertisements generated by the site will continue to appear.

The advertisements themselves may contain other clickbait messages designed to entice the user into clicking on them. However, do so with extreme caution, as the advertisements may lead you to unsafe third-party websites (phishing pages, fake giveaways, technical support tactics or worse).

To stop the Android-recaptcha.info site, you will need to open the appropriate settings menu of your browser (usually it is either Permissions or Notifications) and revoke all permissions granted to it. Afterward, it may be a good idea to scan the system with a reputable anti-malware solution for any PUPs that might be lurking on it.
