Adww Ransomware

The Adww Ransomware is a variant belonging to the STOP/Djvu Ransomware family, which is still extremely popular among cybercriminals. Despite the massive number of variants already identified by infosec researchers, new ones continue to appear. Adww follows the established behavior of this family and although it is not equipped with any major improvements, its destructive capabilities cannot be denied.

Once Adww Ransomware is executed on the breached device, the threat will target most of the data stored there and encrypt it using a strong cryptographic algorithm. All locked files will no longer be accessible. In addition, they would have '.adww' attached to their names, The ransom note of the threat will be delivered to the impacted system as a text file named '_readme.txt.'

The instructions left by Adww Ransomware's operators state that victims must pay a ransom of $980 if they want to receive a dedicated decryption tool and the required decryption key. Adww also makes the typical STOP/Djvu offer of reducing the amount of the ransom by 50% for the victims who establish contact within the first 50%. Affected users are provided with two email addresses ('restorealldata@firemail.cc' and 'gorentos@bitmessage.ch') and a Telegram account ('@datarestore').
