Adlg Ransomware

The Adlg Ransomware carries a threatening encryption routine that can impact a wide range of file types. When executed on the targeted computers, Adlg will encrypt the data stored there and each locked file will become completely unusable. Victims will lose access to their documents, photos, images, archives, databases, etc. The goal of the attackers is to extort the affected users or corporate entities for money.

An important characteristic of the Adlg Ransowmare is that it is not a unique threat. Analysis has revealed that it is a variant of the STOP/Djvu Ransomware family. As such, its behavior is mostly consistent with that of the numerous other variants belonging to the malware strain. The threat will mark each locked file by adding '.adlg' as a new file extension. It also drops a ransom note as a text file named '_readme.txt.'

The message inside the file reveals that the operators of the threat are trying to extort the sum of $980 from their victims. However, affected users who contact the hackers within the first 72 hours will supposedly have to pay 50% lower for the decryptor tool and keys that the hackers possess. Two emails - 'restorealldata@firemail.cc' and 'gorentos@bitmessage.ch,' and the '@datarestore' Telegram account are mentioned as potential communication channels to reach the cybercriminals. Users should keep in mind that any communication with malware operators should be considered extremely risky.
