Threat Database Adware Your Account PayPal Has Been Limited

Your Account PayPal Has Been Limited

As one of the biggest payment platforms, PayPal is often a target of phishing campaigns designed to scare victims into exposing their account credentials. The 'Your Account PayPal Has Been Limited' scam operates in the same way. Thousands of corrupted emails are being disseminated through a spam campaign. The emails themselves try to appear as legitimate as possible by bearing the PayPal logo and claiming to be coming from the company itself. Just to be clear, nothing mentioned in these corrupted emails is true and PayPal is in no way involved with them.

The scenario carried out by this tactic is that the user's PayPal account has been supposedly limited. To fix the problem, the targeted users will have to confirm their identity by following the provided link and entering all the information required there.

The fraudulent emails have been observed to carry several different links but they all lead to websites with the '.ma' country code. This is the code designation for Morocco. The phishing website will then ask for PayPal account credentials to be entered. Any information provided by the user will then be scraped and sent to these people.

Users who have fallen for the tricks of the 'Your Account PayPal Has Been Limited' scam must immediately notify PayPal that their account has been breached.
