Aamv Ransomware

The Aamv Ransomware is a STOP/Djvu variant that cybercriminals can utilize as a part of attack operations targeting the data of their victims. The threat is capable of locking any documents, PDFs, pictures, photos, archives, databases, etc. found on the breached devices. The encryption process will leave all impacted files in an unusable state. In addition, each file will have '.aamv' attached to its original name. The instructions of the attackers will be delivered to the infected systems as a text file named '_readme.txt.'

The ransom note dropped by the Aamv Ransomware is almost completely identical to the messages left by other STOP/Djvu variants. It states that the attackers can assist with the restoration of the locked files but only after they have been paid a ransom of $980. Victims who contact the hackers via the email addresses found in the note - 'support@bestyourmail.ch' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc,' will supposedly have to pay half of the initial ransom amount only. It is important to remember that any communication with cybercriminals is inherently risky and could lead to additional privacy or security issues.
