The YaTab software is published via the Chrome Web Store and you can install it for free. The YaTab application is designed to work as a new tab replacement that has added features compared to the standard new tab page in Google Chrome. The YaTab New Tab is free to use, but you should expect to see commercials and sponsored search results on your screen, which allow Chameleon Advertising Technologies Ltd. to monetize their product. The YaTab New Tab requires the following permissions on Chrome to work as intended:

  • Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
  • Replace the page you see when opening a new tab.
  • Change your search settings to yatab.net.
  • Read and change your browsing history.
  • Read and change your bookmarks.
  • Manage your applications, extensions and themes.

You should note that the YaTab New Tab offers access to your saved bookmarks and provides convenient widgets like to-do lists and notes. The YaTab New Tab is loaded as an offline page from the extensions library in Google Chrome, and you may see the URL — 'YaTab|chrome-extension://fkkfdilehekamhmocmkicmebbhcanobi/newtab.html#!/.' Web surfers may like that the YaTab New Tab allows for background image rotation. However, the YaTab New Tab is configured to search using the Ask.com engine only. The YaTab New Tab extension intercepts search terms in the Omnibox and produces results at hxxps://www.ask[.]com/web?qo=semQuery&ad=semA&q=[search terms]&o=766197&ag=fw2&an=mopub&rty=674999.
