XTEX is an adware program developed by XTEX, a company located in Saint Petersburg. As other countless adware programs on the Web, XTEX's main duty is to display advertisements on the computers it manages to enter. Although XTEX will not cause any harm to the affected machine, its presence may have some side effects that may be annoying and even harmful. For example, XTEX may collect the computer users' browsing data and its advertisements can lead to compromised websites and even cause the installation of additional adware, PUPs and threats. The majority of Web browsers available on the Web may be affected by XTEX, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. XTEX may be installed embedded with a free application when the PC user downloads a freeware or shareware application, such download-managers, video recording/streaming or PDF creators that had XTEX Ads packaged into their installation, visit corrupted websites or click on compromised advertisements. Computer users need to find and remove all components related to XTEX Ads by using genuine security software to block the irritating advertisements and for the safety of their machines.
