Wowmovies.today is a browser-based tactic that uses social engineering tricks to get users to subscribe to its push notifications. If its successful, Wowmovies.today will start generating unwanted advertisements onto the device's screen, and even closing the browser will not be enough to stop it.

Once landed on the Wowmovies.today, the unsuspecting visitors will be greeted by several fake error messages that, curiously, despite having different contents, all encourage them to click the 'Allow' button. The most prominent message displayed on the site is "Click Allow to watch the video" placed below what appears to be a one-second video that apparently fails to start. By clicking the button, however, the user will be giving Wowmovies.today the required browser permissions to start generating advertisements. To say that having your normal browsing experience being constantly disrupted by unwanted advertisements is annoying would be an understatement.

Luckily, getting the situation back under control is not that difficult and can be done in just a couple of minutes. All users affected by Wowmovies.today have to navigate to their respective browser's Settings menu, look for the Permissions tab, and remove everything that has been granted to this scheme.
